Desert Chapel's Senior Pastor, Richard Lies has been praised for many contributions to the community of Tucson including the Festival of Hope, the coalition of Prayer Network international, facilitating the putting together a Police Assistance Fund at the Fraternal Order of the Police, and what he states God's vision is for Tucson. |

Complaints
Many former members have alledged that Richard Leis had attempted to control them. Such things as ultimatums, threats, removing other leaders who questions him, mishandling of money, and alledged Leis family mental disorders, including Mr. Richard Leis himself. One former pastor of calimed the pastor's son had stolen a credit card, but later took the blame on himself. A former member claimed that the pastor's son took their money and intentionally lost it in the stock market. Another claims that his "ministry" was closed down as a political move. Not all these have been substantiated, but there are a few that ATE does give some credence to.
